The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Bole Township and surrounding communities in the Savannah Region following heightened chieftaincy tensions.
The curfew, effective Wednesday, August 27, 2025, will be enforced daily from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until further notice.
A directive signed by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak indicated that the decision was taken on the advice of the National Security Council through an Executive Instrument.
Government has appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents to remain calm and resolve their differences through peaceful dialogue.
The curfew also comes with strict restrictions, including:
A total ban on firearms, ammunition, and offensive weapons, with offenders facing arrest and prosecution.
A ban on more than two people riding on a motorbike.
A prohibition on the wearing of war regalia.
Authorities say the measures are necessary to maintain peace and protect lives and property in the area.
