The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has lifted the curfew imposed on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding communities in the North East Region with immediate effect.
The decision, taken on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and formalised by Executive Instrument, follows what authorities describe as significant improvements in the peace and security situation in the area.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 16, 2026, the Minister indicated that government was satisfied with the current level of stability in Nalerigu and its environs, paving the way for the removal of the restrictions.
Despite the lifting of the curfew, government has urged chiefs, opinion leaders, the youth and residents of the area to exercise restraint in addressing any lingering challenges.
The Minister encouraged the use of dialogue and other non-violent approaches to resolve disputes and sustain the prevailing peace.
Authorities further assured the public of their continued commitment to maintaining law and order to safeguard lives and property in the region.
