GPL 2023/24 match week 18: Hearts of Oak thump RTU; Kotoko stunned by Heart of Lions in Kpando

Hamza Issah scored a brace on his return to Ghana Premier League action as Hearts of Oak beat Real Tamale United.

The young striker scored after 18 minutes in the game at the Accra Sports Stadium before doubling his tally and the team’s tally moments later.

Asante Kotoko on the other hand were handed their first league defeat in over 6 outings by bottom placed Heart of Lions in Kpando.

Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah scored the lone goal of the tie in the 52nd minute, leading to Kotoko’s defeat.

Enock Asubonteng scored the third goal in the 71st minute to wrap up the victory for the Phobians.

Bechem United were dealt a blow at home as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Nsoatreman. Stephen Diyou scored the only goal of the encounter.

Bibiani GoldStars came from a goal to seal all three points in their meeting with Berekum Chelsea at Dun’s Park.

Prince Kwabena Owusu and Frank Amankwah were among the goals for the Miners against the Blues.

There were also victories for Great Olympics and Karela United who faced Bofoakwa Tano and Legon Cities FC respectively.

After 18 game weeks, Samartex still occupy the top spot on the league standings with 32 points with Aduana FC and Nsoatreman following closely.Both teams will clash today, Monday February 22 at 3pm.
