Berekum Chelsea stunned AshantiGold at home to record their fourth win of the season in match day five of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.
Chelsea defeated AshantiGold by a lone goal at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.
A blunder from AshantiGold goalkeeper Richard Boateng was capitalized by Chelsea striker Kofi Owusu who tapped the ball into the net.
Chelsea has ended AshantiGold’s unbeaten run in the ongoing season.
AshantiGold coach, Yakubu Sherrif Mambo blamed the team’s defeat to over confidence.
“It was not a matter of fatigue. Our players were over confident in this game.
“We played well in this game. Over confidence let us down”, he said after the post-match interview.
This is Chelsea’s first ever win over AshantiGold since their promotion into the top-flight in 2009.
