Great Olympics won the bragging rights in the Ga Mantse derby following a 2-0 win over Hearts of Oak on Saturday in the Ghana Premier League.

The game lived up to the hype as the ‘dade boys’ continued with their impressive performance in the ongoing season.

Olympics delivered on their promise as they recorded a win against their neighbors in a game which was watched by thousands of fans at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Yaw Preko also got his first win over Hearts of Oak in his first game as manager against his former side.

Great Olympics star Gladson Awako scored a beautiful free kick in the 7th minute to put his side infront.

Maxwell Abbey scored a stunner to increase the lead the ‘dade boys’ to secure a 2-0 lead.

Olympics held onto the lead and prevented the Phobians from getting an equalizer or consolation.

The dade boys have leapfrogged from the seventh position to second place after this win.

Match reactions

Hearts coach Kosta Papic

We made two big mistakes and were punished. We tried our best but the balls didn’t want to go into the net. We couldn’t score in this game and that is the problem.

Great Olympics coach Yaw Preko

I am proud of the boys. The boys came to the party, we hit them early and it worked. For the second half we were compact and didn’t allow them to score.
