The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has issued a stern warning to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) over the growing misuse of personal assistants (PAs) in official government functions.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, August 28, Ocloo expressed concern about PAs attending meetings and signing documents on behalf of their bosses, calling the trend “worrying” and a threat to accountability.
“Some of you have surrounded yourselves with personal assistants who have virtually taken over your official responsibilities. If you have decided to bring PAs, let it be clear that their role is strictly to help you organise your schedules, manage your time and provide administrative support.”
She emphasized that PAs have no place in Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) meetings, where sensitive matters are discussed.
“Assemblies cannot be run by unelected and unappointed individuals hiding behind your authority. “This must stop immediately.”.. she added.
