The Ghana Tourism Authority has announced Ghana as the host country for the FESTAC Africa Renaissance Festival 2025.

The festival which promotes pan-Africanism, African culture and heritage is filled with a plethora of activities all geared towards revealing the beauty of Africa and celebrating African heritage.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority Maame Efua Houadjeto speaking at the press launch indicated that the upcoming event goes beyond an ordinary festival and plays a firm role in expanding Africa’s history – what she described as a mirrored initiative of the authority’s Tourism Month held in May every year.

She added that the festival is set to gather experts and enthusiasts from the various sectors of African arts to join in and celebrate Africa. “They are bringing something bigger than what we do. They are giving us an opportunity to celebrate Africa on a larger platform. We are going to have huge carnivals as part of the events. We are going to have a beautiful stage displaying who we are within, displaying our passion, music, and color,” she said.

Director of Corporate Affairs at the GTA, Bright Asempa Tsadidey proudly touted the event as a clear indication of Ghana as the gateway to Africa and African Renaissance, noting that the festival will open Ghana to a broader development agenda of Africa. “We acknowledge the tremendous significance of this moment not only for the tourism and creative sectors but for the broader development agenda of the creative sectors.”

He added that FESTAC has found a home in Ghana and will be majorly supported by every Ghanaian to ensure that it stays so. “We are proud that Accra has been chosen as the host city for this special iconic celebration. We are grateful to our partners especially the FESTAC African Secretariat, the government of Ghana, our ministries agencies will continue to support this festival.

He noted that the Ghana Tourism Authority is committed to ensuring that the celebration of Africa is organized throughout the period with proper organization and sufficient support.

Chairman of FESTAC Africa, Engr. Yinka Abioye, Chairman, FESTAC AFRICA shared his enthusiasm about being in Ghana and rightfully touted Ghana as a country with the historical prowess to unite Africans. “An entourage is bringing a float to Nigeria. They are promising to get 500 people on power run they are coming just to show love and show that we are one. We have reached out to the diplomatic community. We have spoken to all the leaders of the other nations to also wake up their diaspora people to be part of this celebration.”

FESTAC Africa Renaissance Festival 2025 FESTAC AFRICA 2025 is an open invitation to every African country, every citizen of the continent, and the African Diaspora taking place from 21st to 27th September 2025 to celebrate Africa’s unity, heritage, and future.
