The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has issued a formal directive to Hassan Ayariga, Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC), demanding that he stop using the title “Dr.” due to unresolved questions surrounding his academic credentials.
Despite several requests, Ayariga has not provided documentation to support his use of the title. GTEC specifically sought clarity on:
– Whether the doctorate is earned or honorary
– The name of the conferring institution
– The date of conferment
– Details of the academic process followed
“To date, the Commission has not received any response from you. This continued silence is unacceptable,” the statement said.
GTEC underscored that using unverified academic titles undermines public trust in the educational system and violates national academic standards.
As such, Ayariga must cease using the title on all public and professional platforms, including media, campaign materials, and personal documentation.
A deadline of July 31, 2025, has been set for full compliance, and GTEC expects verifiable evidence confirming the removal of the title.
