The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has published the approved fee structure for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year, a move aimed at addressing concerns and ensuring clarity around the university’s charges.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 12, and signed by Director-General, Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, GTEC announced that the Academic Facility User Fee will remain unchanged from the 2024/2025 academic year, meaning students will not face any increase under that category.
According to the statement, other approved charges include GH₵50 as Student Representative Council (SRC) dues, GH₵150 SRC Development Levy, GH₵250 Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) Development Levy, and GH₵122 Telecel Broadband Levy, which applies to all undergraduate students, including freshmen.
GTEC also introduced a one-off 75th Anniversary Levy of GH₵100, which will apply only to the 2025/2026 academic year and will not be carried forward beyond that period.
The Commission further noted that students must be adequately informed about their rights, including the option to opt out of certain levies where applicable. GTEC described the publication of the fees as part of efforts to promote transparency and ensure compliance within the University of Ghana.
“This announcement is intended to resolve issues relating to the 2025/2026 fee schedule of the University of Ghana, and we count on the usual cooperation of all stakeholders for its effective implementation,” the statement said.
