The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has welcomed the appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi, citing it as a welcome relief for businesses.
GUTA welfare officer, Benjamin Yeboah, in an interview with Fati Shaibu Ali on Happy 98.9fm’s Happy Morning Show, commended the government on their efforts to stabilize the cedi.
According to him, the cedi’s recent strength is good and will help to reduce import costs and stabilize prices.
“The market forces is pushing the prices down because of the cedi strength” he said.
He noted that, it is important that this continues because it will allow more reduction of prices on the market.
He disclosed that some traders have been able to adjust to the strength of the cedi and have already reduced the prices of their goods and is hopeful that if things continue the way they are, other traders will also be able to do same.
“All in all so far so good. We are just praying and hoping that the government will continue to do everything possible to ensure that the Cedi continues to gain strength” he added.
