GUTA elects new executives for next four years

The umbrella body of traders in the country has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) for the next four years.
After an election process organized by the Electoral Commission in Accra and supervised by Eric Okyere, saw Dr. Joseph Obeng emerged as the president to replace Dr. Barima Ofori Ameyaw I, who opted out after serving two conservative terms in office.
The following: were also elected as Vice presidents respectively; Patrick Ose-Brogya, Charles Gyan and Anthony Oppong.
The General Secretary position went to Alpha Shaban and his deputies were Richard Amamoo and Emmanuel Nana Opoku Acheampong.
Mr. Clement Boateng was elected National Organizer and the following Paa Payin , Jeff Kwame Gyasi, and Dominic Aidoo Appiah as his deputies.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) position was maintained by Joseph Paddy with the three deputies as follows: Joseph Osei Agyemang, David Amoateng and Thomas Ade.
The position of National Treasurer went to Mr. Frempong Ahenkorah Busia.
The position of Financial Secretary went to Jimmy Yeboah Asiamah with Ama Marfo as his deputy.
The position of Welfare Officer went to Benjamin frimpong Yeboah with Harry Awuku and Hajia Buari as deputies.
The position of Protocol Officer went to Richard Owusu Mensah with these individuals as Deputies Owusu Ofosuhene and Samuel V, Aikins.
Speaking after being sworn-in by the former President of the association, the newly elected president assured members of his readiness to continue from where his predecessor left it.
According to him, he is aware of the challenges confronting the association in relation to foreigners doing retail business in the country.
‘We will continue with the struggle to eliminate foreigners from doing retail business in the markets in compliance with the Ghana Investment Protection Centre Act that bars foreigners from the retail business in the country’.
