Gye Nyame FC commenced the inaugural Ghana Amputee Football League (GAFL) with a 9-1 thumping of Ayawaso FC at the Kotobabi Wembley Park on Saturday, May 6.
The highly anticipated maiden Ghana Amputee Football League started with opening remarks from the President of the Mr Daniel Nii Mensah as he urged all the eight competing clubs to apply the fair play rule and make the competition a memorable one.
The matches started with Eefsa FC locking horns with AMUGISCO, which the former won by 2-1 despite their opponents coming into the match as overwhelming favourites.
The second match of the afternoon saw one of the most exciting games ever witnessed on the shores of Ghana – as Gye Nyame FC walloped their counterpart Ayawaso FC 9-1- the losers who were touted to carry the day due to proximity sake but failed their teeming fans who made a short trip to the ground.
Follow up game between Global 1 and Our Hope FC ended 4-1 for the latter while Asanteman round off Match Day 1 with a 4-1 victory over Kum Apim Stars.

Acting Director General of National Sports Authority (NSA) Mr Bawa Majeed Bawa drew the curtains down on Match Day 1 with a closing remark.
Round of 2 games will be played next week at same venue on Saturday, May 12.
