Ghana’s pacesetting radio station, Happy 98.9 FM, in collaboration with the highly rated recreational center Lakeside Marina Park, has launched its most anticipated family fun event, the Family Fun Run, marking the beginning of activities for its 16th edition.
The long-standing community event, dedicated to health, family bonding, and social impact, was officially launched at the Silver Star Tower on January 20, 2026.
Delivering the welcome address at the launch, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance (GMA), Ernest Boateng, described the occasion as “a celebration of endurance and purpose.”

“This event champions healthy lifestyles and environmental sustainability while strengthening community bonds. Our partnership with the Mercy Social Centre continues to support essential services for underserved individuals,” he said.
“The event is not just about hitting the pavement; it’s about making a difference in the lives of young children at the Mercy Social Centre,” he added.
Mr. Boateng noted that for over a decade and a half, the Happy FM/Lakeside Family Fun Run has served as a driving force in encouraging families to adopt healthier lifestyles through regular physical activity.
He emphasized that the initiative goes beyond fitness, explaining that Fun Run represents a broader movement aimed at promoting healthy living across all age groups, strengthening family and community bonds, and fostering a culture of social responsibility.
He further disclosed that this year’s event will feature both 6km and 10km run and walk categories, designed to accommodate participants of all fitness levels.
On his part, the Director of Lakeside Estates,  Salah Kalmoni, noted that the annual event has grown into a powerful platform for social change. He added that the run is not only about physical activity but also about transforming lives, particularly those of young children at the Mercy Social Centre.
“This annual 6km and 10km run and walk isn’t just about hitting the pavement; it is about making a difference in the lives of young children at the Mercy Social Centre. So, mark your calendars for March 6, 2026, and get ready to run, walk, and feel great,” Mr. Kalmoni said.
He explained that the event is inclusive and open to everyone, whether individuals, families, or school teams. Registration fees have been structured to encourage broad participation, with individual runners paying GH₵100.00, families GH₵250.00, and school teams GH₵400.00.
Marketing Manager for Lakeside Estate, Isaac Ntiamoah, added, “The Family Fun Run serves as a way of giving back to the community as a lifestyle and as a way to celebrate Independence Day as well.”
Registration forms are currently available at Happy FM (Asylum Down), Lakeside Marina Park, Silver Star Tower, and the Global Media Alliance offices at Dzorwulu. Organizers are urging the public to register early to secure their participation in this milestone edition.
Participants also stand the chance of winning attractive prizes on the day, including electrical appliances, medals, and souvenirs from sponsors adding extra excitement to the event.
In addition, participants can connect with fellow runners and track their progress throughout the year on the virtual run club.
The Happy FM/Lakeside Marina Park Family Fun Run is proudly sponsored by YFM, Silver Star Tower, Japan Motors, Silver Star Auto Ltd, Silverbird Cinemas, and Verna Mineral Water.
