Leading radio station in Ghana, Happy 98.9 FM and prominent real estate developer, Lakeside Estate have once again upheld their annual tradition of supporting the Mercy Social Centre with a significant donation of essential items.
This contribution is a key component of both organizations’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Notably, Happy FM and Lakeside Estate jointly organize the annual Family Fun Run and Walk, also known as the ‘Charity Run,’ held every March 6th. This event not only promotes family engagement and healthy living but also serves as a crucial fundraising platform for the Mercy Social Centre.
A dedicated 25 percent of all revenue generated from participant registration fees during the Family Fun Run and Walk is allocated to the Mercy Social Centre. These funds are vital in supporting the provision of quality care and living conditions for the children residing at the home.
For over fifteen years, Happy FM and Lakeside Estate have consistently demonstrated their unwavering commitment and passion for the Mercy Social Centre through this annual support.
The donated items, valued in tens of thousands of cedis, included a substantial quantity of provisions, toiletries, biscuits, drinks, stationery, running shirts and shorts, riding shirts and socks, and running shoes.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Salah Kweku Kalmoni, Executive Director of Run Ghana, expressed his satisfaction in the continued partnership between the two brands and the Mercy Social Centre. “We made a commitment to annually visit and donate to the Mercy Social Centre, and we are pleased to be here once again this year. Our dedication to this worthy cause is something we deeply value and will consistently uphold. We are also delighted to announce that following the recent run, several of our sponsors generously augmented the funds specifically designated for the Mercy Social Centre.”
Mr. Kwabena Ampong, Programmes Manager of Happy FM, elaborated on the source of the donation. “The items presented today represent a portion of the proceeds raised during the 15th annual Happy FM and Lakeside Marina Park Family Fun Run, which took place on Ghana’s Independence Day. We extend our sincere gratitude to all the participants, sponsors, and supporters of this year’s Family Fun Run, without whom this contribution to the Mercy Social Centre would not be possible.”
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Mercy Social Centre, Ali Abdul Salam Ali, Director of the Centre, conveyed his profound appreciation to Happy FM and Lakeside Estate for their enduring support of the home and its residents.
“We are deeply humbled by this consistent act of kindness and encourage other organizations to emulate this exemplary gesture by also donating to the Mercy Social Centre,” Mr. Ali stated, urging other entities to follow the philanthropic lead of Happy FM and Lakeside Estate.
