Happy FM’s Akua Sika hosts ‘Return Conversations’ in Accra; fostering unity among global Africans

Ghanaian media personality and Host of Happy 98.9 FM’s “Evening Drive” show, Akua Sika hosted the 2023 edition of the “Return Conversations” organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority under the flagship of the Beyond the Return project which proved to be a remarkable success, attracting influential personalities and luminaries from Ghana and the Diaspora.

The event held on July 25, 2023 at the esteemed Accra International Conference Centre, under the theme, “Role of Film and Music in Uniting Global Africans,” brought together prominent figures from the music and film industries in Ghana and the United States, setting the stage for inspiring dialogues that emphasized unity and interconnectedness among Global Africans.

The ‘Return Conversations’ has become a pivotal platform for discussing crucial issues surrounding the African diaspora and promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

Dressed in vibrant Ghanaian custom-made clothing that exemplified the essence of African culture, Akua Sika gracefully guided the event, ensuring discussions were engaging throughout the day. Her warmth and charisma set the tone for an inclusive and enlightening atmosphere.

The impressive lineup of speakers at the event included distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to the music and film industries. Among them were Jason Carter, the esteemed Chief Executive Officer of ONE Music Festival, and Jasmine Young, the visionary Director of Warner Music and Blavatinik Center for Music Business. Their insights into the power of music as a universal language that transcends borders left the audience enthralled.

Renowned Ghanaian musician and ardent supporter of arts and culture, Trigmatic, shared his personal experiences on how music has the potential to bridge gaps between communities, encouraging a sense of belonging among the global African family. Meanwhile, the presence of Rocky Dawuni, a multiple Grammy-nominee and philanthropist, added a touch of glamour to the event. His dedication to humanitarian causes and believe in the unifying strength of music resonated deeply with attendees.

PY Addo-Boateng, the versatile Music Executive, Film Producer, Actor, and Event Producer, brought his multifaceted expertise to the stage. His contributions sparked discussions on the future of film in portraying the stories of Africa and their shared history on the global stage.

Throughout the day, the audience was captivated by thought-provoking conversations, inspiring stories, and valuable insights shared by the speakers. The event emphasized the importance of utilizing film and music to strengthen the connection between Global Africans, regardless of their physical location.

As the event drew to a close, the air was filled with a sense of hope and renewed determination to forge a united and empowered Global African community. Akua Sika in her closing remarks, thanked the participants for their valuable contributions and reiterated the significance of celebrating and preserving African culture through artistic mediums.

The success of this edition of the ‘Return Conversations’ has set a new benchmark for future events and has further solidified Ghana’s position as a key player in promoting African culture and unity worldwide.
