Happy Morning Show advocates for a disability friendly Christmas festivities

The Wednesday; 29th December 2021 edition of the Happy Morning Show (#HappyHMS) on Happy 98.9 FM and e.TV Ghana will have Eunice Tornyi host of African Women’s Voices show on e.TV Ghana as host of the show with Paul Anomah-kordieh, the only visually impaired television presenter in Ghana and Mike Amon-Kwafo, a former Director of TV at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation who is also a person with special needs as co-hosts to discuss among other things how persons with special needs celebrate Christmas and partake in the many activities and events.

The special edition of the show seeks to ask the relevant questions about how persons living with disability were factored in the series of events happening across Ghana during the Christmas festivities and would one featuring interviewes with officials from the Ghana Tourism Authority, Minister of Gender and Social Protection and other bodies.

The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG ) 11 advocates for inclusive, safe and resilient cities and human settlements. The disability-related target of this SDG is to create accessible infrastructure that is affordable. It aims at providing accessible and sustainable transport systems and universal access to safe and inclusive green public spaces.

With this years christmas festivities considered as one of the “packed” December’s by many, where the various venues accessible to persons with disabilities?, What initiatives were put in place for persons with special needs to participate in initiatives such as the Beyond the Return concept and many others. These questions and more is what would be discussed on this special edition.

As a country we don’t have to leave anyone behind, we have to know that we are all differently abled. We live in a digital world, how are persons with disabilities coping with the changing times? Tune in on Wednesday, 29th December to find out more.

Ghana became the 119th country in the world to ratify the Disability Rights Convention, that mandates the protection of people living with disability worldwide. However, persons with disability still face discrimination.
