Happy FM’s Valentine Mass Wedding counseling sessions continued on Saturday, 25th January, 2025 at Happy FM, premises.

The topic focused on “Duties, Roles, and Communication” with Rev. Kofi Annan and Rev. Gabriel Sekyi-Yorke, Senior Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.

Rev. Kofi Annan explained the importance of understanding each other’s temperaments and weaknesses. “We all have some differences, even with our physical stature. Knowing each other’s temperaments is a vital structure in the relationship . It’s only the spirit of God that helps control these temperaments,” he said.

He also encouraged couples to focus on each other’s strengths and complimentary roles. “Partners must compliment each other. How do we as partners overlook our weaknesses and concentrate on their strengths?”.
The couples were tasked with writing down their favorite traits or positive characters of their partners during the week leading up to the next counseling session.

Rev. Annan also discussed the four pillars of love: compassion, commitment, pleasure, and sacrifice. He explained that “These pillars make the institution of marriage a ‘4-wheel drive marriage,'” he added.

Rev. Gabriel Sekyi-Yorke spoke on the topic of “duties and roles” in marriage. “Sharing responsibilities among couples is an important factor that most people ignore before diving into marriage”

. He mentioned that effective communication is crucial in making roles and responsibilities work.

Rev. Sekyi-Yorke also touched on the evolving nature of gender roles in marriage. “Women are taking up leadership positions in their careers and in their line of work and are no longer limited to the kitchen or house chores”.

He encouraged couples to incorporate new ways of communicating roles and duties in their marriage. “It’s essential that married couples keep playing the roles of good partners to have a happy married life,” he said.

The session concluded with a discussion on the duties of men and women in marriage. Rev. Sekyi-Yorke emphasized that the duty of a man is to love his wife, while the duty of a woman is to be submissive.

Happy FM’s Valentine Mass Wedding counseling sessions is ongoing until the big day , covering essential topics to ensure that couples are ready for their journey together.
