The 2nd preliminary stage of Ghana’s most exciting Inter-Zongo Cooking Competition, Salah Food festival held on 8th June 2024 brought Madina to a standstill.

The contest which was held at the Madina Market Lorry Park was well attended by not only contestants, but persons living in and around Madina to witness the exceptional culinary skills of contestants.

A myriad of exciting activities ranging from the wheel of Fortune, dance offs, musical chairs and give-aways from sponsors left the atmosphere charged and electrifying.

Teams from Ashiaman, Madina and Achimota Zongos faced off to determine which teams would represent their communities in the final showdown between the top 10 teams.

At the end of a tough contest, Italy Base of Achimota, Vim Ladies of Madina, Abindadi Rice of Ashiaman impressed the judges with their culinary prowess, booking a spot in the grand finale set to take place at Fadama.

Contestants were judged based on taste, presentation, neatness and overall execution.

The Happy FM Salah Food Fest has not only become a platform for celebrating Zongo cuisine, but also a platform to promote cultural exchange and understanding among different communities in Ghana.

The festival aims at highlighting the rich culinary traditions of these communities, promoting togetherness and appreciation of their unique contributions to the nation’s food culture.

Happy FM and its sponsors awarded all competitors from three participating communities with certificate of participation and amazing prizes from Fortune Rice, Fortune Spread, Frytol, Chocho Industries, Nkulenu and Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, Tasty Tom Jollof Mix.

Happy FM Programme’s Manager, Kwabena Ampong, stated that the mini contests were a run up to the main event which will be held at the Chief Imam’s residence, Fadama. He urged contestants who had qualified to the next run to lace their boots and polish their culinary skills if they want to take home the ultimate prize.

“Nima is the next location for the last preliminary stage on the 22nd of June, 2024. We promise you nothing but another exciting and electrifying contest. Be there!!!”
