A leading Communications Team member of the NDC, Haruna Amaliba, has urged Ghanaians to shift their focus from external threats like terrorism to more pressing existential domestic dangers.
According to Amaliba, the country faces a greater risk from land guard activities and chieftaincy disputes, which continue to destabilize communities and undermine national cohesion.
“We must not be distracted by distant threats when the real danger is right at our doorstep,” Amaliba emphasized.
He pointed out that while terrorism garners headlines, the unchecked rise in violent land disputes and the proliferation of land guards often operating with impunity pose a more immediate and tangible threat to peace and development.
He also highlighted the growing number of unresolved chieftaincy conflicts, warning that these could escalate if not addressed with urgency and fairness.
Amaliba called on policymakers, traditional leaders, and security agencies to prioritize these internal issues, stressing that national security must begin with securing the home front.
