The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health has voiced serious concern about the poor state of the Goaso Municipal Hospital in the Ahafo Region, calling for immediate intervention.

Members of the committee recently visited the facility to assess its condition and interact with staff, uncovering challenges that significantly hinder healthcare delivery.

Lambussie MP, Titus Beyuo, expressed disappointment over the lack of essential facilities and modern equipment at the hospital, which serves as one of Ahafo’s referral centers.

Despite the dedication and expertise of the hospital staff, the absence of these resources makes it challenging to deliver the expected level of healthcare.

Dr. Beyuo called on the government and the Health Ministry to address the hospital’s pressing needs, while also urging local companies, especially mining firms, to collaborate in improving the facility.

The Medical Superintendent, Dr. James Ankomah, welcomed the committee’s visit and shared optimism about potential advocacy from its members.

He highlighted the hospital’s persistent challenges and emphasized the importance of better infrastructure and equipment to ensure quality healthcare services to patients.

This appeal reflects a broader issue of resource shortages in healthcare facilities across Ghana, requiring collective efforts to drive sustainable solutions.
