The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, will address Parliament today—Tuesday, July 1—on the recent surge in COVID-19 cases across Ghana.

At exactly 2:00 PM, the Minister will appear before lawmakers at Parliament House to present a detailed update on the country’s COVID-19 situation. He will outline key developments including infection rates, vaccination progress, public health preparedness, and surveillance efforts.

This follows a confirmed resurgence of COVID-19 cases at the University of Ghana, reported on Monday, June 23.

In a statement issued on Thursday, June 26, the university’s health directorate confirmed suspected and confirmed cases on campus, prompting authorities to reactivate health protocols and tighten preventive measures.

University officials have since urged students, staff, and visitors to remain vigilant and strictly follow COVID-19 safety protocols to help curb the spread of the virus.

As part of the emergency response, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs has suspended all student events and week celebrations until further notice.

The Dean, Professor Rosina I. Kyerematen, in a signed directive, said the decision aims to protect the health and safety of the university community.
