The Ministry of Health has directed the immediate enforcement of enhanced security measures across all health facilities nationwide following a recent baby theft incident at the Mamprobi Polyclinic.

In a press release issued and signed by Isaac Ofei Baah, Head of the Public Relations Unit at the Ministry of Health on February 18, 2026, the Ministry commended the swift and coordinated response of the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and other key stakeholders, particularly the whistleblower whose intervention contributed to addressing the situation.

According to the statement, the Minister for Health has instructed the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service to ensure strict day-and-night security measures are immediately implemented in all public health facilities across the country.

Administrators of health institutions have also been directed to urgently review and strengthen their internal security protocols to prevent similar incidents.

Additionally, the Minister reiterated a prior government directive mandating all health facilities to install and maintain fully functional Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance systems to enhance monitoring and accountability.

The Ministry reassured the public of government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding patients and maintaining integrity within the health sector. It also called for calm as investigations into the Mamprobi incident continue.
