The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather alert for Thursday, May 16, warning of incoming weather disturbances expected to impact the country. According to their morning forecast, two rainstorms are predicted, with the storm from Nigeria expected to make landfall at 9:30 a.m.

The coastal and northern regions are expected to experience heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms.
Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to take immediate precautions as the agency warns of a high risk of flooding and wind damage.

“A rainstorm that is moderately producing thunderstorms with rain over northern Benin into Togo is expected to drift further westwards to affect the northern half of Ghana. However, a separate rainstorm observed over Nigeria is also expected to propagate westwards to affect the coastal and middle sectors of the country. The rainstorm is likely to be accompanied by moderate to strong winds”, the agency explained.
