The High Court in Accra has rendered a decision in Deborah Seyram Adablah’s lawsuit against her purported “sugar daddy,” former Chief Finance Officer Ernest Kwasi Nimako, in a recent legal hearing.

The court presided over by Justice John Bosco Nabarese, dismissed the case, stating that although the relationship between the two was deemed immoral and not socially acceptable, there was no reasonable cause of action in the plaintiff’s writ.

The court firmly asserted that it should not be involved in endorsing or legitimizing relationships based on immoral acts, stating, “You cannot recover the price of something you have committed into an immoral act.” Consequently, the plaintiff, Deborah Seyram Adablah, has been slapped with a cost of GH¢10,000.

This ruling follows an application filed by the former Chief Finance Officer, Nimako, urging the court to strike Adablah’s case. The court found merit in Nimako’s application, leading to the dismissal of the lawsuit.

Background of the Case:

Deborah Seyram Adablah filed the lawsuit on January 23, 2023, alleging sexual harassment and breach of promises by her “sugar daddy,” Ernest Kwasi Nimako. Adablah claimed that Nimako had made various commitments, including buying her a car, covering her accommodation expenses for three years, providing a monthly stipend of GH¢3,000, marrying her after divorcing his wife and offering a lump sum to start a business.

However, Adablah asserted that Nimako took back the car, initially registered in his name, after just a year, and failed to fulfil promises related to accommodation expenses.

The plaintiff sought court orders for the transfer of the car’s title, reimbursement for the outstanding two years of accommodation, and the lump sum promised for starting a business.
