Ghana’s first-ever National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, the Christian session, took place at the forecourt of the State House in Accra today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, coinciding with the celebration of Republic Day.
The solemn event, which has drawn together religious leaders, government officials, and citizens from all walks of life, is being held under the theme: “Reflect, Reset and Renew for National Prosperity.”
In a symbolic moment of spiritual unity, the Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, took to the podium to read a scripture, emphasizing the need for national reflection and divine guidance in the country’s journey toward peace and prosperity.
The ceremony forms part of government’s efforts to foster national cohesion, encourage collective prayer, and promote moral renewal across the country. Various Christian and Muslim clerics are expected to lead interfaith prayers for the nation, its leaders, and citizens.
