Huddersfield striker Collin Quaner excited about prospects of representing Ghana

Huddersfield Town striker Collin Quaner is itching to don the Ghana jersey on the back of a recent meeting with Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah.
Born to a Ghanaian father and a German mother in Dusseldorf, Germany, Quaner qualifies to represent the country of his father under Fifa eligibility rules.
After April’s meeting on his international future, the 26-year-old, who is currently in Ghana on holiday, is all excited about the prospect of turning out for the four-time African champions.
“I try not to really think about it, the pressure for me is more of excitement to have the chance [to play for Ghana],” Quaner told Joy FM.
“I’m fully focused. I’ve always been someone who likes to work and is disciplined, so I will be prepared if it comes to the case.
“I’ve been following the Black Stars since I was young when they were playing at the World Cup and at big tournaments.
“Personally, I think the Black Stars always have one of the strongest teams on the continent of Africa and always have great players like former captain Stephen Appiah and Asamoah Gyan.
“They always play a good role, and it’s quite unfortunate that they were not able to qualify for this year’s World Cup.”
In his second season in England, Quaner made 26 Premier League appearances, involving 13 starts, as Huddersfield finished 16th to avoid relegation last term. He, however, failed to find the back of the net.
The season before, the centre-forward netted twice in 19 games to help The Terriers secure promotion to the topflight.
Quaner played for German lower division sides Fortuna Dusseldorf, Armenia Bielefeld, Ingolstadt, Hansa Rostock, VfR Aalen, and Union Berlin before heading for England in 2017.
