Parents whose wards have not yet been placed in any Senior High School (SHS) have expressed deep disappointment in the education system over the frustration they are being subjected to.
Speaking to the media at the GNAT Hall on Tuesday, September 23, where many parents and their children had gathered to seek placement, the parents lamented that the stress is unbearable.
They blamed the Ministry of Education, recalling that in previous years, candidates selected their preferred schools before sitting for the BECE, after which placements were automatically done.
They questioned why the government cannot revert to that method instead of subjecting them to this new, stressful system.
“I am flabbergasted, because I’m not expecting this in Ghana. Formerly when we were in school this is not what was happening, you choose your schools before you write your exams so when the result comes your school is given,” a parent said.
The parents appealed to the Education Ministry to urgently resolve the challenges and ensure that their wards are placed in schools without further delay.
