Ghanaian Highlife artiste born Nana Yaw Kumi known in showbiz circles as Kumi Guitar, has vehemently protested against claims that he said he’s the king of Highlife.
The Zylofon Record artiste was reported to have claimed that he is the best Highlife artiste in the country.
But during an interview with DJ Advicer on Happy FM’s Ayekoo After Drive show, the ‘Betweener’ hitmaker rejected the reports – insisting that it was his fans who bestowed the title upon him.
“I did not fight Paa Kwasi over kingship of Highlife and I never said that I am the king of Highlife. I mean if it comes to kingship I will rather chose to be the elder because they enstooled and destool kings but on a more serious note, I didn’t say that.”
“People started pushing that on me after my Dream song, which featured legend Highlife artistes. My fans started calling me king of Highlife.”
Kumi has hit songs like ‘dream’ and ‘betweener’.
