I still get nervous even after 12 successful editions of Rapperholic - Sarkodie reveals

Headlining act for the 2025 edition of Rapperholic, Sarkodie has opened up on the nerve-wracking feeling of every performance delivered to fans since his early days in the industry till now.

The multiple award-winning rapper explained that his nervousness does not stem from the fear of failure but rather his desire to give his fans a show worth their time and energy. “If I’m invited to go and perform even at a wedding, I’ll still get butterflies because I love performance and I think about how things are going to perfect for me and the crowd.”

Sharing insights on behind the scenes preparations for each show, he revealed that it involves workouts, walks at night, rehearsals of his contemporary catalogue and classics from his early days all with an aim to put up a good show. “Just because you’re Sarkodie, people are going to scream, doesn’t mean you’re going to give a good show. So you need to take your craft very seriously to make sure that when I get off the stage I can say I gave them a good show.”

“I think about me being in the crowd paying to go and watch something. What do I want to expect? I don’t want fans to go like if I stayed home and listened to these songs it would have been more profitable. So I get nervous.” he added.

Sarkodie is presently building momentum for his headlining show Rapperholic – The Home Coming to be held in Kumasi, which he says “will be bigger than what has been done in Accra for Rapperholic editions over the years.”
