The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has deployed a special security team to Gbenyiri in the Savannah Region following reprisal attacks in the community.
A press release issued by the Ghana Police Service Regional Headquarters in Damongo, explained that the deployment followed clashes between some Birifor and Fulani residents in the town.
The statement indicated that the special team, made up of intelligence officers and investigators, has been tasked to support the regional command to intensify security operations and identify persons responsible for the attacks.

The Savannah Regional Police Command further assured the public that calm has been restored in Gbenyiri and that efforts are underway to track down individuals behind the incidents.
Residents have also been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel as investigations continue.
