Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo has thanked Ghanaians for their overwhelming support after marking his Black Stars debut with a solid performance in Monday night’s 1-0 victory over Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The 27-year-old, who received a late call-up, was handed a starting spot and impressed in midfield as Ghana secured all three points, with new Spartak Moscow signing Alexander Djiku scoring the decisive goal.
Reflecting on his debut, the former Cheetah FC player expressed his appreciation to fans and pledged to return stronger for future national team duties.
“I’m grateful to Ghanaians for the massive support on my debut. I really appreciate it. Now it’s time to focus on club football, but I’ll be back soon,” Sibo said.
The victory keeps Ghana at the summit of Group I with 19 points after eight matches, leaving Otto Addo’s side just one win away from booking their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Black Stars resume qualifiers in October against the Central African Republic, where a victory will all but seal their qualification.
