President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, has asserted that all allegations against his appointees have been investigated and by the right bodies of law, not by him

Speaking at the ‘President’s Encounter with the Media’, he stated that there is not one investigation leveled against any of his appointees that has not been investigated.

According to him, he has heard cries of people in the National Democratic Congress circle that he is ‘Mr. Clear President’ because he is clearing his appointees’ names from their alleged crimes but he is not clearing anybody and he cannot clear anybody because he does not have the power to investigate anyone.

‘’I am not an investigating agency, I’m a president. I’m an executive leader of the country and I don’t do investigations. Investigations are done by the CHRAJ, done by the parliament, done by the police, and when they give me a report that they have not found any basis for the allegation, I accept it because that is the way that our institutions have to work, he said.

He mentioned that the people who made the allegations keep saying that the mere making of the allegation establishes the fact that there is corruption but he, being a lawyer, will never accept that way of doing business.

The president went on to make his remarks about the issue on corruption. He said, ‘’We need to focus on it and we have all of us to commit to doing something about it. There’s the personal example, there’s the institutional measures that we have to take and in that exercise, we’re all Ghanaians and we know what goes on in this country so we have to be part of the anti-corruption drive. Yes, the president plays a very big role but the matter doesn’t end with him’’.
