The Environmental Health Service Director for the Jaman North District in the Bono Region, Abdallah Mahama, has cautioned residents to prioritize cleanliness in their surroundings to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
Mr. Mahama reminded the public of the provisions in the Public Health Act (Act 851), Section 135, which empowers sanitary inspectors to enforce environmental health laws.
He emphasized that both public and private institutions, as well as individual households and workplaces, are required to maintain clean environments and are subject to inspection.
He appealed to residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining hygiene, noting that public health is a shared duty among all citizens.
Mr. Mahama further advised the public to clear weeds around their premises and ensure that stagnant water is drained or fumigated to prevent mosquito breeding and the spread of diseases such as malaria and other communicable infections.
He reiterated that maintaining a clean environment is essential for safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the entire community.
