The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Jean Mensa, has reiterated the Commission’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral process as preparations intensify for the December 7 elections.

Speaking during a meeting with the National Elections Security Task Force at the Commission’s office on Tuesday, November 26, Jean Mensa emphasized the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders in ensuring a smooth, transparent, and orderly election.

She noted that peace is an ongoing process, not just an event, and reassured the public that the Commission is dedicated to upholding peace both before, during, and after the elections. She said the Electoral Commission, together with the National Elections Security Task Force, has worked diligently to involve citizens in the electoral process by making their operations more transparent and inclusive. This collaboration, she added, extends to the media partners who have been instrumental in communicating the importance of peaceful elections to the public.

She urged the voting public, particularly those involved in the special voting process, to actively participate by visiting the designated voting centers. She stressed the need for voters to exercise their rights in a peaceful and orderly manner, further affirming the Commission’s confidence in the election’s transparency and the peaceful environment leading up to the polls.
