The National Democratic Congress(NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, John Dumelo, has passionately urged the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson, Jean Mensa, to set up voter transfer centers within university campuses, making it easier for students to transfer their votes and exercise their civic duty in the upcoming elections.

In a video posted on his facebook page, John Dumelo highlighted the difficulties students encounter when traveling to the Ridge Centre district office to transfer their votes, pointing out that thousands of students from various institutions including UNIMAC, GIJ, UG-Legon, GIMPA, UPSA, and Knustford are enthusiastic about transferring their votes but are unable to do so due to the inconvenient location.

“Most of these students have already registered to vote in their hometowns but are currently living in Accra for their studies and are likely to still be here on December 7, making it difficult for them to cast their votes unless transfer arrangements are made available,” he said

With the voter transfer deadline looming, John Dumelo has appealed to the Electoral Commission to establish registration centers in universities, highlighting the challenges students face in traveling to the Ridge office due to their packed schedules, which include lectures, exams, assignments, and other academic commitments, making it difficult for them to participate in the process.
