Happy 98.9FM, a leading radio brand in Ghana, is set to host a preliminary round of the highly anticipated Salah Food Festival Inter-Zongo Cooking Competition at the Kasoa Old Market Lorry Park.

The Salah Food Festival is an annual culinary competition organized by Happy 98.9FM that celebrates the rich culinary traditions of Ghana’s Zongo communities. The festival aims to showcase the diverse dishes and cooking talents within these communities, fostering unity and cultural exchange.

The competition unfolds in stages, beginning with intra-community cook-offs, where the best cooks are selected to represent their respective communities in the grand finale.

This year’s preliminary round will feature a culinary face-off between Fadama Zongo, Sabon Zongo, Tuba Zongo, Kasoa Zongo, Ashaiman Zongo, Madina Zongo, Nima Zongo and Mamobi Zongo. Contestants from each community will present their unique traditional dishes, highlighting the distinct flavors and culinary expertise of their heritage.

Dr. Timothy Karikari, Director, Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company, emphasized the significance of the event: “Happy 98.9FM is excited to bring communities together through the Salah Food Festival, a vibrant celebration of the rich flavors and culture of our Zongo communities. This inter-zongo competition starting in Kasoa is more than just a food contest; it’s an opportunity to showcase unity, tradition, and the spirit of Eid al-Fitr. We invite everyone to join us in experiencing the taste of togetherness. On behalf of Happy FM, I extend my best wishes to all the participating contestants.”

The Salah Food Festival has grown into a significant cultural event, attracting participants and spectators from across Ghana. The festival not only showcases culinary skills but also promotes the cultural heritage and peaceful coexistence among Zongo communities. Happy FM has been praised for this initiative, which provides a platform for these communities to share their unique contributions to Ghana’s food culture.
