The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has successfully conducted its balloting exercise for the party’s five presidential aspirants ahead of the January 31, 2026 presidential primaries.
The event took place on Friday, October 10, at the NPP’s national headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.
At the end of the balloting, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, picked the first position on the ballot paper, setting the tone for what is expected to be a fiercely contested race.
The former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, drew the third position, while the other aspirants, Dr. Bryan Acheampong picked the second position, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, fourth and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, fifth.
Officials of the party’s elections committee supervised the process in the presence of representatives of all aspirants to ensure transparency and fairness.
The balloting exercise marks a crucial step in the NPP’s preparations toward electing a new flagbearer to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
