The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a second and final evacuation notice to occupants along the Santasi Roundabout to Asokwa Interchange corridor, urging them to vacate the area by January 20, 2026, to pave way for the ongoing construction of a dual-carriage road.

In a statement, the Assembly directed car dealers, mechanic shops, taxi operators, squatters, owners of temporary structures, traders, and billboard operators who are yet to relocate to do so voluntarily to allow the redevelopment project to proceed smoothly.

The Assembly recalled that in an earlier notice issued on September 24, 2025, affected occupants were ordered to vacate the stretch by November 1, 2025.

However, KMA noted that despite repeated reminders, some individuals have failed to comply with the directive.

According to the statement, construction work on the Santasi–Asokwa dual-carriage road has already commenced, making full cooperation from all affected persons critical to the timely completion of the project.

KMA further disclosed that engineers from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have begun relocating essential utility installations along the corridor.

The Assembly appealed to residents and traders to support and cooperate with the engineers to avoid delays.

Additionally, owners of affected garages have been advised to contact the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Physical Planning Department, and Urban Roads for assistance and possible reallocation.

The Assembly stressed that compliance with the evacuation directive is necessary to facilitate the successful and timely execution of the road project, which is expected to improve traffic flow and enhance transportation infrastructure in Kumasi.
