Playwright, Humorist and Author at Modern Ghana Kobina Ansah, has explained the story behind his latest play titled, ‘Emergency Wedding’.

The author is known as one who likes to use his plays and books to touch on societal and relatable issues.

Per his observation, our society often times tries to push young people to get married which is not the best.

He told Foster Romanus on e.TV Ghana’s Late Nite Celebrity Show, “So you see someone who is even unemployed but the first question we ask them is when they are getting married but not when they are getting a job,” he said.

He stated that, this has put so much pressure on people especially young ones to get married, with some giving themselves timelines even when they are not ready.

Kobina noted that at the end of the day, most of these youth forcefully get married and end up in regrettable marriages.

He asserted that the whole aim of the play is to draw the attention of young people to this and also advise them against getting married based on societal pressure.

“So that is all emergency wedding is about,” he said.

The show is said to premiere at the National theater on Saturday 18th of December 2021. With the first show starting at 3pm and the second at 7pm.

“The rate is a cool 60ghc in person and 40ghc for live streaming”.

He urged everyone to come in their numbers to watch and enjoy the exciting play.
