The Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is set to resume full operation of it’s dialysis centre next week.
According to press statement from management of the Hospital, a significant quantity of essential consumables for dialysis has been secured which is currently being processed for delivery to Korle Bu from the Tema Port.
The statement added that the Minister of Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has procured additional 30 dialysis machines with a year’s supply of consumables for Korle-Bu to prevent future shortages and improve the Hospital’s service delivery and cost efficiency.
“While we had initially hoped to have these supplies cleared from the port two weeks ago, procedural lapses and documentation on the part of the shipping line unfortunately caused a delay in the clearance”.
Management therefore apologies to patients for the inconvenience this situation may have caused.
The statement comes after the Korle-Bu dialysis unit closed for almost two weeks causing patients to seek treatment at private hospitals.
Those who were unable to seek private medication raised serious concerns about their condition.
