The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that the 2025 Teacher Promotion Examinations will be conducted as scheduled, while issuing detailed guidelines for candidates ahead of the exercise.

In an official statement issued and signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services) for the Acting Director-General on Saturday, December 27, GES announced that the promotion examinations will take place on Monday, December 29, and Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon each day.

According to the statement, candidates seeking promotion to the ranks of Assistant Director II (AD II) and Principal Superintendent (PS) will write their examinations on Monday, December 29, while those aspiring to become Assistant Director I (AD I) and Deputy Director (DD) will sit for their papers on Tuesday, December 30.

GES explained that the shortlisting of candidates was carried out strictly in line with approved eligibility criteria and documentation requirements, noting that some applications could not be considered as a result.

All shortlisted applicants, the Service said, have received official SMS notifications containing their Staff ID, Index Number, and designated examination centre.

The Service added that the official list of shortlisted candidates and their index numbers is available for verification at Regional Education Offices, Municipal, Metropolitan and District Education Offices, as well as at all designated examination centres.

A final list of eligible candidates will also be circulated to the centres a day before the examinations begin.

GES stressed that only candidates who have received official SMS notifications or whose names appear on the shortlisted list are eligible to proceed to the next stage of the promotion exercise.

Teachers who have not received an index number have been cautioned not to report to any examination centre, as the examinations will be conducted strictly by index number.

The statement further addressed special cases involving teachers who obtained their last promotion or upgrading in or before 2021 and meet all qualification requirements but were not shortlisted.

Such teachers are required to submit copies of their last promotion or upgrading letters, as well as evidence showing that they applied for the current promotion, to their respective Regional Education Offices for rectification.

On examination day, candidates are required to present a valid National Identification Card and clearly indicate their Staff ID and Index Number on all examination papers.

GES encouraged candidates who require clarification or encounter challenges to contact the Service via text message, WhatsApp, or voice call on 0550326931, or by email at gespromotionexams@gmail.com.

The statement appealed to all teachers to strictly adhere to the guidelines to ensure a smooth, credible, and well-coordinated promotion exercise.

GES also noted that any further communication will be made only through official Service channels.
