The Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, has expressed gratitude to God, the Supreme Court and his legal team following the apex court’s decision to quash a High Court ruling that ordered a rerun of the parliamentary election in the constituency.
Speaking after the 4–1 majority ruling of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, January 28, Mr. Nyindam said the judgment affirmed the will of the people of Kpandai, who elected him to represent them in Parliament.
“I want to give thanks to Almighty God for what He has done in my life. I also want to thank my lawyers and the Supreme Court judges for their ruling. It is clear that there were attempts to change the will of the people of Kpandai, but the Supreme Court has affirmed that will, and I am most grateful,” he said.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday January 28, 2026 set aside a Tamale High Court judgment that had annulled the Kpandai parliamentary election and directed the Electoral Commission to conduct a rerun.
Mr. Nyindam thanked the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its support throughout the legal battle, acknowledging the contributions of party leadership at the national, regional and constituency levels.
“I want to thank the party from the top to the bottom, national, regional and constituency for the support they have given me. The people of Kpandai are happy today. They voted for me and expected me to serve them for the four years, and that expectation has been restored,” he added.
He further expressed appreciation to former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for what he described as consistent support during the period.
“I am grateful to His Excellency, the former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for the support he has given me throughout. May God add many years to his life, and by the will of God, I know he will serve this nation one day,” Mr. Nyindam said.
The Supreme Court has indicated that the full reasons for its decision will be made available on 6th February 2026.
