Market women in Kuntanse, a community in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, have appealed t government to intervene and improve conditions at the local market.
According to the traders, the poor state of the market has forced many of them to sell along the road, a situation they say is not only affecting sales but also putting their livelihoods at risk.
Leading the appeal, Madam Yaa Menka, Chairperson of the Kuntanse Market, urged authorities to provide urgent support to address the challenge.
Responding to their concerns, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosomtwe, Engineer Abdullah Hamidu, assured the market women of immediate measures. He disclosed that plans are underway to relocate the vendors back to the market premises next week and to carry out repairs on damaged infrastructure.
The intervention, he said, forms part of the district’s broader efforts to ensure a safe and enabling environment for trading.
