The National Coordinator of the Computerize Secondary School Placement System (CSSPS), Mark Sasu- Mensah has admitted that one of the major problems inhibiting the growth of the operations of the placement centre is the lack of public sensitization on the activities of the centre.
According to him, he has over the years identified these problems as one that has blighted the operations of the centre over the years.
The centre operates in ways that the public do not understand hence hue and cry when the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is over he said.
Mark Sasu -Mensah made this admission on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM.
He said in the preparation for the computer  placement into the Senior High Secondary Schools(SHS), every year the policy guidelines changes on the explicit guide of the Ghana Education Service(GES).
So parents should understand that there are some changes in the guidelines for placement year he stressed.
Like this year one of the policy guideline for the elite school(grade A schools) option is that thirty of students admission to the fifty-four elite schools must be from the public schools across the country he revealed.
There are so many activities that characterized the computer placement of students this he said involves pre-activities of making sure all students are captured into the system.
After this there is the post -activities which comes with mopping up of the process to hear some of the problems that rear its ugly head in the process he said.
This is also working on the self placement  of some students into schools they have not chosen he noted.
