Former Adansi Asokwa MP, Kobina Tahir (K.T.) Hammond, has criticized attempts to frame the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 flagbearer race as a competition of affluence, urging party members to return to the party’s founding principles of visionary leadership.
Speaking at Adansi Asokwa on Wednesday, September 10, KT Hammond said, “The NPP is blessed with many, many rich men and women… Such persons do not make noise. They don’t flaunt their wealth and tell us they must be the ones to lead.”
His remarks came during former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s engagement with Constituency Executives in the Ashanti Region, where he launched his campaign for the party’s leadership.
“Leadership in NPP is based on a contest of ideas, a contest of visions for development. Let us get back to our values and choose a leader who reflects the values, visions, and principles of the NPP.”
He concluded with a strong endorsement: “I am convinced the person who best fits this description is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. Let’s throw our support behind him and maintain him for 2028.”
