Former Ghana Football Association president, Alhaji M.N.D Jawula, says loss of concentration during games has been the major factor that has hindered the Black Stars from winning the AFCON title.

According to the veteran football administrator, lack of focus and concentration by the various national teams during games is what must be looked at and the unnecessary shifting of blames on players after games should be stopped.

Speaking on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya he said: “Most of our defeat is due to loss of concentration. We have seen it in a lot of games. In bigger games against Germany in Brazil we were leading and then threw away the lead. Against Uruguay in South Africa same thing happened.

“This has affected us right from the juvenile and colts level, to the division straight to the national teams. After that, things don’t relate to the match we come and blame the players for it”.

He also revealed that every football player has his own unique way of preparing for a game.

M.N.D Jawula made mention of former Real Tamale United goalkeeper Lanquaye Lamptey who had to eat eight balls of kenkey before every game.

“There was a player with RTU who had to eat eight balls of kenkey before every football game. He did that because he wanted lots of energy to be at his best in the post. There are other players who also have to sleep with ladies before a game”.
