e-Ananse Libraries, over the weekend honored Madam Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono during the launch of the ‘By the fireside’ at Osu in Accra.
She was honoured for her immense contribution over the last 40 years to the arts and entertainment industry.
e-Ananse presented a citation with a citation that reads; “For your contribution towards the promotion of storytelling in Ghana, e-Ananse Libraries is proud of you and thus, says…Ayekooo!
The Director of e-Ananse Libraries, Cephas Larbi in a short documentary showed at the ceremony said “In Ghana, one person who has paid her dues and gone an extra mile to promote the art of storytelling over the last 40 years or more, is Madam Grace Omaboe. She has become a household name as an actress and script writer and has told hundreds of meaningful stories over the last 4 decades, through the television drama series, OBRA.
“BY THE FIRE SIDE” programme on television which featured her as the amazing Storyteller on tv screens Ghana is yet to see again has remained a key contribution to the art and promotion of storytelling in Ghana”.
Mr. Cephas Larbi said the management of e-Ananse is convinced of the need to celebrate Grace Omaboe and honour her for the contribution towards the art and promotion of storytelling in Ghana over the decades, and stated that “e-Ananse is proud to be associated with Maame Dokono”.

Return Of ‘By the FireSide’
The launch of e-Ananse’s monthly story telling session, “By the fireside’ with Maame Dokono and old cast saw hundreds of people in attendance including high personalities from UNESCO, Ghana Folk Law Board and Ghana Bureau of Languages.
‘By the Fire Side’, a monthly live storytelling session organized by e-Ananse Libraries is an evening of fun and entertainment, aimed at reviving the beautiful art of Ghanaian storytelling and also create a television content for a number stations.
‘By the Fire Side’ live session would be held every last Saturday of every month and the next event is in January 2020 at e-Ananse Library at Osu.
