The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has criticized the government’s response to recent floods, stating that the annual recurrence of floods with increasing damage to life and property is disheartening.

He believes that preventing or minimizing such disasters should be a priority for any responsible government, but the current administration has demonstrated a lack of commitment to implementing effective measures.

In a scathing Facebook post, former President John Mahama expressed dismay that despite claims of significant investments in flood mitigation, numerous areas continue to suffer severe flooding even with minimal rainfall, highlighting the glaring inadequacy of the government’s efforts to address this recurring issue.

According to the government, $200 million was spent on the Greater Accra Resilient Integrated Development Programme (GARID)”, he stated.
