Even though the Accra Digital Centre, the centre for grooming ICT  was inaugurated by the ex-president John Dramani Mahama with pump and pageant as part of the electioneering campaign in 2016, it has emerged that the centre  is empty barely a year after its inauguration.
The Managing Director of the Accra Data Centre Kofi Ofosu made this interesting revelation in a one –one interview with the host of ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM.
He said even though the idea to started the BOP was stated in 2010 under the administration of the late president John Evans Atta-Mills and completed in 2016 by the John Dramani  Mahama’s administration has seen any development since it was inaugurated.
When I assumed office as the MD of the centre, I met an empty room without common chairs and computers.
He said he still tempted to incline that the computers that were exhibited by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the hyped inauguration were hired.
He said the centre which built to create a technology eco-system for the development of start -ups companies in Information Communication Technology (ICT).
He claimed that the managed the centre like it managed the Dubai interchange which become a white elephant in the Central Business Districts of Accra.
The Data centre which was housed in the twelve ware houses of Public Works Department near Ghana Water and Sewage  Company district office near Kwame Nkrumah circle was totally empty with no chairs for the security was stationed there.
Under my able administration we are gradually turning the centre into a silicon valley of ICT to push the president’s agenda of making Ghana the ICT hub in the sub-region.
So far because of the prudent management of the centre twelve companies have come on board and it is the expectation that eighty more will be enrolled by the middle of the year.
He quickly added that this was achieved with the support of the  minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
