The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged that the next NDC administration will prioritize upskilling digital skills and training for Ghanaian youth, empowering every young Ghanaian to thrive in the digital age.

Speaking at the launch of the party’s Youth Manifesto on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the University of Professional Studies in Accra, Mr. Mahama emphasized that his administration will support digital start-ups and train one million young Ghanaians in coding, a promise initially outlined in the NDC’s 2020 Manifesto on page 88, which he noted has been plagiarized by the New Patriotic Party’s government.

Mr. Mahama highlighted that his government will invest $3 billion in collaboration with the private sector to build a vibrant technology and FinTech industry, creating jobs and boosting economic growth in Ghana.

“Additionally, we will invest equivalent of $3 billion in collaboration with the private sector to build Vibrant Technology and FinTech Industry that will create jobs and boost economic growth in Ghana”.

Mr Mahama announced plans to implement a 24-hour economy in 2025, a game-changer that will open new job markets, foster entrepreneurship, and drive innovation, ultimately creating sufficient employment opportunities and stimulating economic growth.

By investing in digital skills training and the technology sector, the NDC aims to equip Ghanaian youth with the tools necessary to succeed in the digital age and drive economic progress. Mr. Mahama’s vision for a thriving digital economy has the potential to transform Ghana’s economic landscape and secure a brighter future for its youth.
